VI COMMANDO

Prt. George Smallwood
Prt. George Smallwood served in No.6 Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least 1940 and is known to have taken part in Exercise Leapfrog on 8th August 1941.

It was reported that he was injured on D-Day ( 6th June 1944 ) when a mortar bomb exploded near him as he was defecating in a garden of a Priest’s office in Breville – he was reported to have been wounded in the buttocks.
